The central government approved the diversion of 103.79 hectares of forest land in Delhi in the last 15 years for developmental projects, including building roads and laying transmission lines, under the Forest Conservation Act 1980, according to government data. The data shows 63.30 hectares of forest land in the city was diverted in 2022-23 and 21.75 hectares in 2021-22. Also, 384.38 hectares or 3.84 sq km of forest land in the capital is under encroachment. Delhi has 195 sq km of forest cover which is 13.15 per cent of its total geographical area of 1,483 sq km. Of the total forest cover in Delhi, only 103 sq km is notified or marked in government records, according to the India State of Forest Report 2021, reported PTI.

Maharashtra | A woman passenger, aged 29 years sustained injuries after she was thrown out of a train at Dadar station. The incident took place on 6th August in the ladies' compartment of the Udyan Express coming from Pune to Mumbai. Manipur Tribal Body ITLF To Meet Home Minister Amit Shah Today
A conglomerate of tribals in Manipur will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Tuesday and raise their five key demands, including a separate political administration and a mass burial in the Churachandpur district of the Kuki-Zo community members killed in the ethnic violence since May 3.
A five-member delegation of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) will hold talks with the home minister and place the demands, ITLF secretary Muan Tombing told news agency PTI over phone from Aizawl.
Haryana Congress Delegation To Visit Clash-Hit Nuh
A delegation of senior Haryana Congress leaders led by party's state unit chief Udai Bhan plan to visit Nuh district on Tuesday. The party said the purpose of the visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area, hit by communal violence. Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, were killed after communal clashes broke out in Nuh when some people allegedly pelted stones on a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession on July 31. The violence also spread to neighbouring Gurugram.
A delegation of senior party leaders led by Haryana Congress president Chaudhary Udai Bhan will visit Nuh on Tuesday where it will meet the violence-affected victims and the people of the of the area a statement issued by the party's state unit said on Monday.
Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda will be part of the delegation, it said. The purpose of this visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area and find out the truth, it said.
