Conference On Bringing Citizens, Govt Closer Through Administrative Reforms Today
A two-day regional conference on the theme "Bringing citizens and government closer through administrative reforms" will be held at Itanagar from August 18, the personnel ministry Wednesday said.
The conference is an effort to bring the government and citizens closer through various administrative reforms at the Centre, state and district level, according to a statement.
It is being factored by use of digital technology pursuing next generation reforms and innovations with policy objective of "maximum governance, minimum government", entailing government process re-engineering, universal access to e-services, excellence in digital initiatives at district level and excellence in adopting emerging technologies and use of ICT management, the statement said.
AAP Says Centre 'Secretly' Trying To Give Permanent Residence To Rohingyas In Delhi
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia slammed the BJP-led Centre saying that it was "secretly trying to give permanent residence" to Rohingya refugees in the national capital, and refuted claims of the Union Ministry that it was the Delhi government’s proposal, news agency PTI reported. However, BJP hit back saying illegal migrants are a "threat" to the national security and that the Modi government would never compromise on the issue.
According to the report, without taking names, Sisodia said that Delhi Police and some officials decided to provide permanent residence to the Rohingyas in the city, on the instructions of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and at the behest of the Union government.
Monkeypox: More Than 35,000 Cases, 12 Deaths Reported Worldwide
The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday said more than 35,000 cases of monkeypox had been reported from 92 countries. Twelve monkeypox relared deaths have been registered so far. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there were high demand for vaccines from the affected countries.
Ghebreyesus said the past week saw almost 7,500 monkeypox cases, a 20 per cent increase from the previous week.
"More than 35,000 cases of monkeypox have now been reported to WHO, from 92 countries and territories, with 12 deaths. Almost 7,500 cases were reported last week, a 20% increase over the previous week, which was also 20% more than the week before," ANI quoted Ghebreyesus as saying.
