The Pelhar Police said that it arrested a teacher for allegedly raping a 14-year-old student in the Nalasopara area of the Palghar district.
"The accused has been identified as Amit Dubey (30). The incident happened between March and July this year, the accused called the victim to his tuition centre on some pretext and raped her. Based on the girl's complaint, a case has been registered under sections 64 (2) (f), 65 (1) of the IPC and the POCSO Act," the Pelhar Police Station said in its statement.

Police have registered an FIR against a man and his three other family members after he allegedly molested a 19-year-old woman and he and his kin thrashed her brother in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Tuesday, as eported by news agency PTI.
The incident took place on Monday evening in Bhiwandi area. The victim, a ragpicker residing in Sundar Nagar slum colony, was on her way to fetch water from a public tap.
Seeing her walking alone on the street, a man approached her, took her behind the bushes and allegedly molested her, the official from Narpoli police station said. The victim pushed the accused and ran home. She informed her brother about the incident.

A 29-year-old accused, Saif Zahid Ali, from Gonda district has been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in a murder case.
Chhakkan Ali, 28, was killed by his friend due to a dispute over paying the autorickshaw fare in the Kurla area. Both of them were from Gonda district. Unit 5 of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the accused from Kalyan Railway Station and handed him over to Kurla PS.

Amit Shah To Launch 'Tiranga Yatra' In Gandhinagar On Tuesday
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the 'Tiranga Yatra' in Gandhinagar on Tuesday as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, and will raise the national flag at his residence on Independence Day, according to sources, PTI reported.
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' (HGT) campaign is being conducted from August 9 to 15 as part of the Independence Day festivities. This initiative seeks to foster a sense of patriotism and national pride by encouraging every Indian to hoist the national flag.
All states and union territories are actively participating in the celebrations to ensure the campaign's success.
Key industry partners, including the Indian armed forces, Central Armed Police Forces, e-commerce platforms, railways, and the civil aviation sector, are also playing a significant role in spreading awareness and supporting the campaign, the sources added.
Delhi Guv, Transport Minister To Lay Foundation Stone Of Electric Bus Depot On Tuesday
Governor V K Saxena and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot are set to lay the foundation stone for a multi-level electric bus depot in Vasant Vihar, southwest Delhi, on Tuesday, officials announced.
The depot, which will feature four floors and rooftop solar panels, will also offer charging facilities for private vehicles.
"The foundation stone of India's largest multi-level electric bus depot will be laid tomorrow. This will prove to be a milestone in Delhi's EV revolution. The bus depot will be a marvel not only in terms of architecture but in other aspects as well. It will have many sustainable features," Gahlot told PTI on Monday.
A senior government official mentioned that the depot will cover five acres and is being developed by the NBCC. Additionally, another bus depot is planned for Hari Nagar, which will include commercial spaces and potentially house government offices.
