Rahul Gandhi To Visit Wayanad
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, will hold a roadshow in his constituency of Wayanad on Tuesday after being disqualified from the Lok Sabha. The Congress is making every effort to give him a warm welcome and demonstrate its strength. Local party leaders claimed that Gandhi's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who last participated in the election campaign in 2019, will accompany him.
The Gandhis will land at the airport in Kannur and take a helicopter from there to Kalpetta, the Wayanad district headquarters.
The party is holding a massive roadshow in Kalpetta from his office, which he used to frequent when he was an MP there.
Additionally, a public meeting is being planned for 4 p.m., at which all of the state's top Congress leaders will be present.
With a margin of over four lakh votes, Gandhi had won the Wayanad seat.
His visit also has more significance because it comes just a few days after Anil Antony, the older son of veteran Congressman A.K. Antony, joined the BJP.
In the meantime, on April 13, the Surat court will hear Gandhi's appeal regarding the conviction.
Sachin Pilot To Go Ahead With Fast
Congress leader Sachin Pilot will continue with his day-long fast in order to press for his demand for action against corruption during the previous BJP rule in Rajasthan, said sources, reported by PTI.
The sources close to the former Rajasthan deputy chief minister additionally expressed that while Rahul Gandhi was battling Adani over alleged corruption, similarly Pilot was taking up the issue to consider the past Raje agreement responsible.
When it comes to the Adani case or the corruption of the Karnataka government, the Congress has been speaking out strongly against it. A source close to Pilot stated, "Why would people take us seriously if the Raje government does not take action against those responsible for graft?"
According to the source, Pilot's fast was not intended to target any members of Congress but rather a "fight against corruption."
After many believed that the former deputy chief minister's decision to fast was an attempt to pressure the high command to resolve the leadership issue ahead of the elections at the end of the year, sources close to Pilot made the assertion.
According to another source, Pilot had not been asked to break the fast by any Congress members.
