Amit Shah is retuning to Delhi in view of Chhattisgarh naxal attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a high level meeting with the Cabinet members and authorities of different states regarding the current Covid situation in the country as India saw the biggest daily surge in Covid cases since mid-September with 93,249 fresh infections reported since yesterday, taking the tally to over 1.24 crore cases.

Mumbai to Get more beds for Covid patients

In the wake of an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases, the Mumbai civic body on Sunday said it has decided to make more beds operational in medical facilities treating patients of the viral infection in the city. On Saturday, the city reported 9,108 new cases of coronavirus, the highest spike in a single day. "We have operationalised an additional 3,000 beds in dedicated COVID-19 health care centres and dedicated COVID-19 hospitals under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in last seven days," civic commissioner IS Chahal said in a statement. 

India Covid Update

India on Sunday recorded 93,249 new coronavirus infections, the highest single-day rise so far this year, which took the total COVID-19 cases to1,24,85,509, according to Union health ministry data. This is the biggest daily rise in cases since September 19, when 93,337 fresh infections were recorded. The death toll climbed to 1,64,623 on Sunday with 513 new fatalities, the ministry data updated at 8 am showed.

Frontline medical and healthcare workers can no longer register for COVID-19 vaccination, the Health Ministry said on Saturday. It said the move is to ensure vaccine coverage expands quickly to include more categories of people, such as those above 45, as frontline medical and healthcare workers have already got first priority and enough time to get vaccinated.


Enforcement Directorate has arrested the Inspector in Charge Ashok Mishra of Bankura Directorate in connection with Coal Smuggling Scam.  According to sources, Ashok Mishra is a close associate to Vinay Mishra, a young TMC leader accused of smuggling coal and cattle.


Today is the last day of the poll campaign in three states -Assam, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala- and Puducherry, a union territory. As Assam and Bengal vote for the third phase on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry will vote in a single phase.


Actor Akshay Kumar is the latest Bollywood star to have contracted COVID-19. On Sunday, Akshay Kumar tweeted that he tested positive for the coronavirus this morning.


Devdutt Padikkal is the latest IPL player to have contracted the novel coronavirus. The RCB player tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. The RCB opener has been isolated from the rest of the squad and is in quarantine.
