This is his first to a foreign country since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. India records 59,118 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, as per the Union ministry of health and family welfare. Maharashtra continued to be the epicentre of the surge, as the state recorded 35,952 new cases on Thursday, its highest since the beginning of the pandemic. While speaking at the National Day programme of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered former Indian PM Indira Gandhi and said that her contribution in freedom of Bangladesh is publicly know. He also said that freedom of Bangladesh was his first struggle and he was 20-22 years old at that time.
