CEOs React After Meeting PM Modi In Washington

"Giving greater momentum to investments in India. Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone Group met PM Modi. Various investment opportunities in India, including those arising due to the National Infrastructure Pipeline and National Monetisation Pipeline were discussed," tweets PMO.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday discussed India's renewable energy landscape with the head of a prominent US-based manufacturer of solar panels. India currently has the world's fastest-growing solar energy programme and has expanded access to clean cooking fuel to cover over 80 million households, making it one of the largest clean energy drives globally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his engagements in the US on Thursday by meeting with leading American CEOs from five different key sectors and highlighted the economic opportunities in India.

Modi, who arrived here on Wednesday on an official visit to the US during which he will hold the first face-to-face meeting with President Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Harris, held one-on-one meetings with CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone.


Two of them are Indian-Americans - Shantanu Narayen from Adobe and Vivek Lall from General Atomics. Three others are Cristiano E Amon from Qualcomm, Mark Widmar from First Solar, and Stephen A Schwarzman from Blackstone.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said he would highlight economic opportunities in India during his meetings with CEOs here.

On Thursday, the prime minister is scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings with the top five American CEOs.

Two of them are Indian Americans -- Shantanu Narayen from Adobe and Vivek Lall from General Atomics. The three others being Cristiano E Amon from Qualcomm, Mark Widmar from First Solar, and Stephen A Schwarzman from Blackstone.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended Indian Diaspora for distinguishing itself across the world as he received a warm welcome from the community on his arrival here.

He was greeted by groups of Indian Americans at the airport soon after his plane landed here Wednesday and later at the hotel where he had an interaction with the members of the community.

Grateful to the Indian community in Washington DC for the warm welcome. Our diaspora is our strength, Modi said in a tweet along with a set of pictures of his interaction with the Indian American CEOs.

It is commendable how the Indian diaspora has distinguished itself across the world, Modi said.

Breaking News LIVE Updates September 23, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the United States on a three-day visit, during which he will hold several high-profile interactions, including meetings with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamal Harris. PM Modi will also participate in a summit of the Quad leaders and address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).


Before beginning his packed US visit, the Prime Minister kept working on the long flight, going through some papers and files.


"A long flight also means opportunities to go through papers and some file work," he posted on Instagram.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday local time arrived in Washington for his much-touted three-day US visit.




Prime Minister Modi was received by US department of state officials at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC upon his arrival. He was welcomed by India's Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, along with the Defence attache including Brigadier Anoop Singhal, Air Commodore Anjan Bhadra and naval attache Commodore Nirbhaya Bapna.


During his visit, he will address the UN General Assembly and attend the Quad leaders Summit as well as hold a bilateral meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that international travel should be made easier through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates, amid several countries adopting different sets of rules to allow foreigners to enter their territory in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In his video remarks at the Global COVID Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden, Modi also said India is ramping up the production capacity of existing vaccines and the supply chains of raw materials must be kept open so that vaccine supplies to other countries can be resumed.


“We also need to focus on addressing the pandemic’s economic effects. To that end, international travel should be made easier, through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates," Modi said.
