Steps To Extradite Him Already Initiated, Purpose Of RCN Achieved: CBI On Withrawal Of INTERPOL Notice

CBI has reacted to the withdrawal of the Red Corner Notice by Interpol against wanted criminal Mehul Chinubhai Choksi.


According to ANI, the agency said, "In 2018, wanted criminal Mehul Chinubhai Choksi approached Commission for Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) making a request for non-publication of Red Notice. CCF is a separate body within INTERPOL that is not under the control of INTERPOL Secretariat and is mainly staffed by elected lawyers from different countries. CCF had studied his request and consulted CBI. CCF dismissed representation of Mehul Chinubhai Choksi and INTERPOL published a Red Notice."


"INTERPOL had only published a Red notice against wanted accused Mehul Chinubhai Choksi in December, 2018 on request of CBI and ED. It may be noted that Mehul Chinubhai Choksi was already located prior to publication of INTERPOL Red Notice and steps also initiated for his extradition. Although the primary purpose of Red Notice was already achieved, the same was retained as a precautionary measure:," the agency added.

Excise Policy Case: ED Summons Kavitha Again On March 21


In a Delhi excise policy-related money laundering case, BRS leader K Kavitha was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for more than ten hours on Monday. According to officials, she will be called once more on March 21, reported PTI.


Kavitha entered the ED headquarters in central Delhi at 10:30 for a second round of questioning in the case. The recording of the statement began at 11 am. She was wearing a green saree.


Around 9:15 p.m., the leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) left the agency's office in an SUV, wading through waiting journalists and on-duty police officers with a victory sign.


On Tuesday, she received a second call, according to official sources.


On March 11, the 44-year-old MLC daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was questioned for approximately nine hours in the case. On March 16, she was summoned once more.


Heavy Rain Lashes Delhi, Light Shower Likely On Tuesday


There was a lot of heavy rain in several parts of Delhi, which made it hard to get around in many places On Monday evening.


"Rainfall was received at entire Delhi between 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Safdarjung received 06.6 mm rain along with maximum gusty winds 32 kmph and thunderstorm. While Palam reported 10.4 mm rain with maximum gusty winds 46 kmph kmph with thunderstorm," the India Metrological Department said.


Additionally, it has forecast drizzle and cloudy skies for Tuesday.


"Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning/gusty winds along with isolated hailstorm likely over Western Himalayan Region and Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan on March 20. There is significant decrease in rainfall and distribution till March 22. Thereafter, a fresh spell of rainfall & thunderstorm activity is likely to commence over the region from March 23," the IMD said in a statement.
