Anand Giri Detained From Haridwar Amid Probe Over Mahant Narendra Giri's Death

"Information was received that the President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri died by suicide. The disciples told the police that around 3-4 pm, they broke the door which was locked from inside and found him hanging": ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said.






"Immediately police reached there, along with forensic and other teams. A suicide note was recovered in which he accused Anand Giri & two others for this step. Anand Giri detained* from Haridwar with the help of Uttarakhand Police & further probe is underway,": ADG Law and Order added, as quoted by ANI.

President Ram Nath Kovind gives away National Florence Nightingale Award 2020 to Brigadier SV Saraswati

New Delhi: Deputy Director-General of Military Nursing Service Brig SV Saraswati has been bestowed with the National Florence Nightingale Award 2020. President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the award in a virtual ceremony for her immense contribution to the MNS as a nurse administrator. National Florence Nightingale Award is the highest national distinction a nurse can achieve for selfless devotion and exceptional professionalism. 


Brig Saraswati hails from the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and was commissioned into the MNS on December 28, 1983. She has served in the MNS for more than three and half decades, especially in perioperative nursing. As a renowned operation theatre nurse, she has assisted in more than 3,000 lifesaving and emergency surgeries and has trained residents, operation room nursing trainees, and auxiliary staff in her career. She has prepared patient teaching materials and improvised drape kits and suture packing for cardiac surgeries. 


Brig SV Saraswati has represented the MNS in various national and international forums. She has conducted various outreach activities for the troops and has trained more than thousand soldiers and families in basic life support. She has rendered her services at various pan-India army hospitals and United Nations Peace Keeping Forces at Congo. She has held various levels of clinical and administrative appointments prior to assuming the present prestigious appointment of Deputy Director-General of MNS. 


In recognition of her meritorious and distinguished service in nursing profession to the soldiers and their families, she was awarded General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Commendation (2005), United Nations Medal (MONOC) (2007), and Chief of the Army Staff Commendation (2015).

Breaking News HIGHLIGHTS September 20, 2021: The Congress on Sunday picked Charanjit Singh Channi as the next chief minister of Punjab, making him the first Dailt to hold the post in the state, a day after Amarinder Singh resigned following a bitter power tussle in the party.

Channi, who met Governor Banwarilal Purohit to stake his claim to the top job in the poll-bound state soon after being elected as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, was sworn in on Monday morning.

The party settled on Channi, the technical education minister in the outgoing Amarinder Singh cabinet, after a flurry of consultations through the day.


Shortly after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi held a press conference to make important announcements for the people of Punjab. He thanked the Congress high command for entrusting him with this responsibility and said that the government is for the people as their CM is an 'aam aadmi' who understands their problems and needs.


Speaking about his background he revealed that his father was a rickshaw puller and his mother used to work as a house help, Channi turned emotional and assured that he is a people's man and will do everything to improve their lives. With Punjab PCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and the party's state in-charge Harish Rawat on his side he made it clear that he will fulfill the promises made by Congress to the people.


In another important development, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took to social media on Sunday to announce that Virat Kohli would be stepping down from the team's captaincy after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. The franchise posted a video, where the RCB skipper explained his decision. Also speaking via an official statement, Kohli said, "It has been a great and an inspiring journey, captaining a talented bunch of players in the RCB squad. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the RCB management, coaches, support staff, players, and the entire RCB family, who have been instrumental in the growth of the franchise over the years."
