Delhi HC To Hear Mahua Moitra's Plea To Restrain BJP MP, Others From Circulating 'Defamatory' Content Against Her Today:
The Delhi High Court will hear TMC MP Mahua Moitra's petition today seeking an injunction to prevent BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, an advocate, and several social media platforms and media outlets from posting, circulating, or publishing false and defamatory content about her.
The plea, which was filed on October 17, has been scheduled for hearing before Justice Sachin Datta.
Moitra, the Lok Sabha MP for Krishnanagar in West Bengal, has filed a permanent injunction against Dubey, advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, social media platform X, search engine Google, YouTube, and 15 media outlets, requesting that they refrain from making, publishing, or distributing per se defamatory, false, and malicious statements about her. She has also sought monetary compensation.
Dubey has accused Moitra of accepting a bribe from a businessman in order to ask questions in Parliament and has asked Speaker Om Birla to form an inquiry committee to investigate the charges against her. Dubey stated that he received a letter from advocate Dehadrai in which the lawyer shared "irrefutable" evidence of bribes paid to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader by a businessman.
Private Bus Owners In Odisha Announce 'Indefinite' Strike Starting Today:
Over the issue of plying on certain routes, Odisha's apex private bus owners' body has threatened to go on a "indefinite" strike beginning Friday, the first day of the Durga Puja festivities.
The strike will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday and will last indefinitely, according to Odisha Private Bus Owners' Association general secretary Debendra Sahu.
Although the state government promised during a meeting on October 9 that buses under the Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) would not run from blocks to districts, "it has not been met," according to Sahu.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the LaccMI affordable bus service earlier this month, with the goal of connecting all gramme panchayats with district headquarters and the state capital.
