At least 11 labourers were killed and two injured in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the media reported on Sunday.
Terrorists detonated explosives near Gul Mir Kot in Shawal tehsil on Saturday and blew up a vehicle carrying 16 labourers, Geo News quoted Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak as saying. As many as 11 labourers, who worked in an under-construction government building, were killed on the spot while two were critically injured, and three went missing, Khattak said.
A retired teacher namely Jawahar Choudhary was shot dead by unidentified miscreants, as reported by news agency ANI. The reason for the murder is not known yet. Investigation is underway According to a police official, the victim’s son doesn’t stay here and he will be questioned once he arrives.
As many as 16 people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident at a motorway in Pakistan's Punjab province on Sunday. Many women and children were among those killed when a passenger bus carrying about 40 persons smashed into a pick-up carrying diesel drums and caught fire on the Faisalabad Motorway near Pindi Bhattian, Geo News reported.
Fire engulfed the bus en route to Islamabad from Karachi shortly after it hit the pick-up van near the Pindi-Bhattian Interchange at 4 am, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Fahad said. The injured were transported to Pindi Bhattian and Faisalabad Hospital, said the medical superintendent.
At least 30 crude bombs and several country-made pistols were recovered during a police raid on a trust-run hostel, officials of the Colonelganj police station confirmed on Sunday, as reported by news agency IANS. The raid on the hostel, named Muslim Boarding House, was after crude bombs were hurled at a resident, who was injured in the attack, the officials said.
According to IANS, the crude bombs were diffused with the help of a bomb disposal squad. Also, two FIRs were registered in this connection and the search for the absconding accused was underway.

Speaking to local media, Jacques Paris, deputy mayor of Ile-Saint-Denis, said that the building already suffered a fire in 2021 in the stairwell, but no one was injured, Xinhua news agency reported.

Amit Shah To Address BJP’s Working Committee In Poll-Bound Madhya Pradesh Today
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will release the Madhya Pradesh government's “report card” here on Sunday and address the BJP’s working committee meeting in Gwalior, the home turf of Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, a party functionary said.
“Shahji will come here (Bhopal) in the forenoon of August 20 and release the report card of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government at a function. Thereafter he will leave for Gwalior where he will chair and address a working committee meeting,” Ashish Agrawal, state BJP media cell head, told PTI over phone on Saturday.
BJP insiders said party MLAs, MPs, district presidents and general secretaries have been told to reach Gwalior. Around 1,500 office-bearers have been called to the meeting where the party is expected to come out with its final plan for the polls, they said. This will be the last meeting of the state working committee before MP goes to polls, due by the year-end.
“We want to increase our movement in Gwalior, the erstwhile kingdom of the Scindias,” another BJP leader said. According to political observers, the BJP is striving to put up a good show in Gwalior and Chambal region, especially after losing the Gwalior mayoral elections last year to the Congress, after 57 years.
Indian Submarine INS Vagir To Reach Australia Today
Indian Navy (IN) submarine, INS Vagir, which is on an extended-range deployment, is set to reach Australia’s Fremantle on Sunday, the Ministry of Defence said on Saturday. INS Vagir, which is the navy’s fifth Kalvari class submarine, was commissioned into the Indian Navy in January this year and is based in Mumbai. The submarine’s deployment commenced in June.
According to the Defence Ministry, during its stay, INS Vagir will take part in various exercises with Royal Australian Navy (RAN) units on the West Coast of Australia.
On the other hand, on the East coast of Australia, Indian Naval ships and aircraft are involved in Exercise MALABAR 23 from August 11-21 and AUSINDEX 23 from August 22-24.
