Breaking LIVE — Landslide Hits Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Clearance Work On

Traffic was disrupted on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway Thursday following a landslide near Ramban town, traffic department officials said. The landslide struck the 270-km highway near Cafeteria Morh around 1 am, blocking the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, the officials said, as reported by the news agency PTI.


They said the mouth of an under-construction tunnel was also blocked by the debris. The tunnel is being constructed to bypass the problematic stretch and is expected to be completed by next year. After the landslide, the concerned agency working on the four-lane highway project immediately pressed men and machines and managed to clear the road of the major debris.


However, intermittent shooting of stones from the hillock hampered the restoration of stranded traffic till 11 am, the officials said. No fresh traffic was allowed either from Jammu or Srinagar this morning, the officials said, adding the traffic will be restored once the stranded vehicles are cleared.

Breaking LIVE — 3 Dead, 4 Injured In Separate Accidents In J&K's Rajouri And Kishtwar

Three people were killed and four injured in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said, as reported by the news agency PTI.


Two women, Shah Jahan (40) and Shahnaz Akhtar (35), were killed and three including a 10-month-old girl were injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Targain in Budhal area of Rajouri district around 7.30 am, a police official said. He said the injured were taken to hospital by the rescuers and their condition was stated to be serious.


In another incident, the official said a private car rolled down from Sinthan top in Kishtwar district after its driver lost control while negotiating a blind curve on the hilly road around 7.45 am.


Latief Ahmad Malik, a resident of Anantnag district, was killed and his co-passenger Ilyas Ahmad Wani was critically injured in the accident, he said, adding the vehicle was on its way to Kishtwar from Anantnag district.

A man who allegedly ran a religious conversion racket has been found to have 30 Pakistani contacts saved in his mobile phones, police in this Uttar Pradesh district have said. Shahnawaz Khan alias Baddo, a resident of Mumbra township in Maharashtra's Thane, was allegedly operating at least six e-mail addresses, one of which had a few e-mails from Pakistan in the inbox, police officials said on Wednesday.


Police have seized two mobile phones of the accused as also the central processing unit (CPU) of his computer for further investigation. Khan was allegedly operating six e-mail addresses, including two for online gaming, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), city, Nipun Agarwal said.


On Tuesday, the accused was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Ghaziabad court where he was produced after being brought from Thane on transit remand.

Delhi Police Likely To File Chargesheet On Thursday In Brij Bhushan Singh Case: Officials

Delhi Police is likely to file a charge sheet on Thursday in connection with the case of alleged sexual harassment filed against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh on the complaints of women wrestlers, officials said.


On June 7, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur met Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik and assured the agitating wrestlers that the charge sheet in the case would be filed by June 15, following which they suspended their stir.


"Since the minister has assured the wrestlers that the charge sheet in the case will be filed by June 15 (Thursday), we will abide by it," said a senior police official.

G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting In Hyderabad From Today


The crucial G20 Agriculture Ministers' Meeting would be held in Hyderabad for three days from Thursday.


"#G20AMM2023 is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from June 15th to June 17th. This event will witness one of the major impactful discussions where global leaders will be exchanging ideas to address worldwide possibilities in achieving sustainable agriculture," the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said in a tweet on Tuesday.


Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy had said here on June 12 that three meetings of the agriculture working group were held earlier in Indore, Chandigarh and Varanasi. The final meeting is in Hyderabad. Besides India, 29 other countries will participate in the three-day event, he had said. Key persons from 10 international organisations would also participate in the meetings.


The main agenda of the meeting includes food security, sustainable agriculture for nutritional food, agriculture development under the leadership of women, agriculture and biodiversity, changes needed in agriculture sector to face climate change, Reddy had said.


Delhi Police Likely To File Chargesheet In Brij Bhushan Singh Case


Delhi Police is likely to file a charge sheet on Thursday in connection with the case of alleged sexual harassment filed against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh on the complaints of women wrestlers, officials said.

The notices were sent seeking photos and video of the tournaments and the CCTV footage of the places where the wrestlers stayed during their matches, they said.
