Assam: Huge Quantity Of Explosives Seized, One Arrested

A youth from Assam's Cachar district was arrested along with a sizable quantity of explosives that had been brought from the nearby state of Meghalaya, police said on Saturday, as reported by IANS.


The arrested has been identified as 24-year-old Prosonjit Baishnab, a resident of the Gumrah in the district.


Acting on information about the smuggling of explosives, police, along with the Assam Rifles, on Thursday launched a joint operation and stopped a car coming from Meghalaya in the Fadri Tila area close to the Assam-Meghalaya border and recovered explosives.

Breaking News — Amarnath Yatra: Over 7,000 Pilgrims Leave For Twin Base Camps From Jammu

A fresh batch of over 7,000 pilgrims left Jammu city early Saturday for the twin base camps in the Valley to join the annual Amarnath pilgrimage, officials said, as reported by PTI.


The 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas commenced from the twin tracks -- the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the shorter 14-km Baltal route in the Ganderbal -- on July 1. The officials said the 13th batch of 7,392 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in a convoy of 272 vehicles amid tight security.

Breaking News Live: Goods Train Derails Near Jaipur

Two wagons of a goods train derailed near Jaipur on Saturday, resulting in the cancellation of at least seven other trains, officials said. They said the incident occured between the Asalpur Jobner and Hirnoda stations of the Jaipur-Madar railway section.


While work is underway to restore the tracks, the North Western Railway has cancelled the Jaipur-Marwar (19735), Marwar-Jaipur (19736), Jaipur-Jodhpur (22977), Jodhpur-Jaipur (22978), Ajmer-Jaipur (09605), Jaipur-Ajmer (09606) and the Jaipur-Suratgarh (19719) trains for Saturday, a spokesperson said, as PTI reported.

Breaking News Live: Delhi Man Posing As Cop Sexually Harasses Woman, Arrested

A team from Crime Branch has arrested a 33-year-old man named Ravi Solanki who was posing as a police personnel for threatening and sexually assaulting a college-going woman, as the news agency ANI reported. He used to display an arms license as a Delhi Police identity card.






He recorded an intimate act between the woman and her boyfriend and threatened her to post the video on social media.


Later, he took the woman to the terrace of a building he sexually assaulted her in the Rohini area. The accused was arrested after analysis of footage from over 270 CCTVs: Ravinder Yadav, Special CP Delhi Police Crime Branch.

Breaking News Live: BJP Panel Investigating Party Leader's Death To Reach Patna Today

The four-member BJP inquiry committee, constituted by party President J.P. Nadda to probe the death of BJP leader Vijay Kumar Singh allegedly during a police lathi charge in Patna on Thursday, will arrive here on Saturday and meet party leaders and workers "injured in the police action," as reported by the news agency PTI.


The injured persons have been admitted to various hospitals in Patna.


The panel, comprising Jharkhand former Chief Minister Raghuwar Das, MPs Manoj Tiwari, Vishnu Dayal Ram and Sunita Duggal, will visit the hospitals where the party workers are receiving treatment. The members will also go to Kalpa village in Jehanabad to meet the family of the deceased party leader.


After the visit, the panel will submit its report to the party President.

Top Congress leaders are scheduled to meet at Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi's residence on Saturday ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. On Saturday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will launch the Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY) on the occasion of world youth skills day at a function in Ranchi, as per a PTI report. 


Congress Meeting Ahead Of Parliament Monsoon Session 


The meeting of the floor leaders where party president Mallikarjun Kharge will also be present will discuss strategy to corner the government on several issues including rising prices, unemployment, Manipur violence and Balasore train accident during the upcoming Parliament session, as per a PTI report. 


The Monsoon Session of the Parliament will begin from July 20 and will continue till August 11. 


The Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson had earlier on July 1 convened another meeting where the party's top leadership discussed its parliamentary strategy and issues to be raised during the Monsoon session of Parliament which begins on July 20, as per the report. 


The party said it will seek a response from Centre on the Manipur violence and also plans to take up wresters' protest, inflation, rising unemployment and the manner in which various governors are conducting themselves.


Jharkhand CM To Launch MMSY 


Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will launch the Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY) on the occasion of world youth skills day at a function in capital Ranchi. Under the scheme, youths of the state will be offered training in various skilling programmes such as tailoring, sewing and carpentering in a bid to link them to employment and self-employment, said an official, as per a PTI report. 


If any of the trainees did not get a job after three months of training, an unemployment allowance of Rs 1,000 to boys and Rs 1,500 to girls or physically challenged trainees will be given till the end of the first year through direct benefit transfer (DBT), an official release said. Non-residential trainees will also be provided with an allowance of Rs 1000, it said.


The eligibility for the scheme has been divided into two categories - general and reserved. Under the general category, youths in the age group of 18-35 will be provided skill training, while the upper age limit for the reserved category will be 50 years, the release said.
