Maharashtra Police raided a pharmaceutical company 'Aanchal Chemical' in Khopoli, Raigarh district, and seized MD drugs worth Rs 107 crores and arrested three drug smugglers. Konkan Range IG, Pravin Pawar, said that during their interrogation, police got information that drugs were hidden at some other places. Police raided that godown and seized 174 kg of MD drugs worth Rs 218 crore in the international market. So far, drugs worth Rs 325 crores have been seized in both proceedings, he said.

PM Modi to Inaugurate GPAI Summit in Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit at Bharat Mandapam on December 12, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) issued on Monday. GPAI, a multi-stakeholder initiative with 29 member countries, aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in artificial intelligence. The initiative supports cutting-edge research and applied activities on AI-related priorities.
India, as the lead chair of GPAI in 2024, will host the annual summit from December 12 to 14. The inaugural session, scheduled for around 5 pm on December 12, will feature multiple sessions covering diverse topics such as AI and global health, education and skilling, AI and data governance, and an ML Workshop. The summit will also include a Research Symposium, AI Game Changers Award, and India AI Expo.
The statement highlighted India's role as one of the founding members of GPAI in 2020, the current incoming support chair, and the lead chair in 2024. The summit is expected to provide a platform for discussions, collaborations, and advancements in the field of artificial intelligence.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Asked To Appear Before ED For Questioning In Money-Laundering Case
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been issued a fresh summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged land scam, official sources reported. This marks the sixth notice issued to Soren, who had previously filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking protection from ED action.
The ED has asked Soren to appear at its office on December 12 to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The investigation focuses on the ED's allegations of an illegal change of ownership of land by a mafia operating in Jharkhand.
Despite previous notices, Soren had not deposed, citing protection sought from the Supreme Court. The new summons signals a renewed effort by the ED to gather information in the ongoing probe.
First Session of Newly-constituted Mizoram Assembly to Begin Today
Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has summoned the first session of the newly-constituted 9th Assembly to commence on December 12, according to officials cited by IANS. The Governor appointed senior Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) MLA Lalfamkima as the protem Speaker, who will administer the oath of office to the newly-elected members and conduct the election of the new Speaker.
The 57-year-old leader, elected from Kolasib constituency, will preside over the session after the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), led by Lalduhoma, secured 27 seats in the 40-member assembly during the elections held on November 7. The Mizo National Front-led government was voted out, with the MNF, led by former Chief Minister Zoramthanga, securing only 10 seats, and the BJP securing two seats.
