A major landslide has hit Kinnaur and hit a bus on the national highway near Chaura in Kinnaur district, burying the bus and other vehicles under rocks and debris. It is yet to be determined about the number of passengers on the bus. It is being said that a truck and a private car are also trapped under the debris. The police and rescue workers are yet to establish contact with the others. The area of tragedy is still slippery due to incessant rain and the state government is trying to launch a rescue operation.

Breaking News, August 11, 2021, HIGHLIGHTS: India has been witnessing a downward trend in Covid cases but some states are still witnessing a surge in cases,. While many have said that the reason behind the surge is the Delta plus variant cases the government has said that it has not led to an exponential surge in cases.
"The detection of 86 samples since March in different places, with no surge (of cases recorded) in any district (due to it), or restricting it to any specific state indicates that this (Delta Plus variant) does not have the capacity to give rise to any exponential surge. We have not found any (such) evidence", the health ministry said.

The geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV) is scheduled to launch the Earth observation satellite (EOS) - GISAT-1 at 5:43 am tomorrow (i.e. on Thursday, August 12) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
