At least eight people were killed and over 10 injured after two vehicles collided in Pakistan's Punjab province on Thursday, authorities said, as reported by news agency PTI. The accident occurred when a passenger van was on its way to Bhakkar from Mian Channu in the Punjab district, some 300 km from Lahore, Rescue 1122 spokesperson Muhammad Farooq said.
The passenger van collided head-on with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, he said. The fatal accident led to the death of seven passengers on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Six passengers are critically injured.
A forest guard and a woman he was in a relationship with allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a dam in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district, police said on Thursday. They were missing since Tuesday afternoon and their bodies were found tied with a piece of cloth in the Mandol dam on Wednesday evening, they added.
Bijoliya police station SHO Ugma Ram said the two were in touch for the last couple of years, adding primary information revealed that they were in a relationship.
“Naresh and Nirmala met on Tuesday and went missing. Their phones were switched off. Naresh's father registered a missing person report at the Mandalgarh police station on Tuesday. Meanwhile, two bodies were recovered from Mandol dam in Bijoliya,” he said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

PM Modi To Speak On No-Confidence Motion In Lok Sabha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday speak on the no-trust motion tabled by the Opposition against his government in the Lok Sabha. Modi's speech will come a day after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke in the Lower House of the Parliament. The motion was admitted by Lok Sabha Speaker and was debated on Tuesday. The ruling National Democratic Alliance faces the no-confidence motion — although not a threat considering comfortable majority — again after Telugu Desam Party moved a similar motion in 2018.
CPI(M) Leaders To Visit Nuh
A delegation of leaders from Communist Party of India (Marxist) will visit the violence-hit Nuh in Harayana on Thursday to express solidarity with the victims of the recent communal violence, the party said in a statement, according to PTI. The delegation will be led by Polit Bureau member Nilotpal Basu and have three MPs - John Brittas, A A Rahim and V Sivadasan - the party said on Wednesday.
Nomination Process For Bageshwar Bypoll To Start Today
The nomination process for bypoll on Bageshwar Assembly constituency will begin on Thursday and the polls are scheduled to take place on September 5, the officials said as per a PTI report. The counting of votes will take place on September 8, said the Election Commission on Tuesday. The Bageshwar seat in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand fell vacant after the sudden demise of sitting BJP MLA Chandan Ram Das at the age of 65 in April this year. He died of a heart attack.
