HC To Pass Order On Tuesday On ED’s Plea For Stay On Kejriwal's Bail
The Delhi High Court will deliver its verdict on Tuesday regarding a plea by the Enforcement Directorate to stay the trial court's order that granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise scam.
According to PTI, the ruling is set to be announced at 2:30 p.m.
In a written submission on Monday, the AAP leader defended the bail decision, arguing that the ED would not be harmed by his release at this stage since he could be re-incarcerated if the high court later overturns the bail order.
Kejriwal contended that staying "the well-reasoned bail order" would effectively amount to granting the petition for canceling the bail.
Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain's vacation bench had reserved the order on June 21 after the agency challenged the trial court's decision and suspended it until the verdict is announced.
