The minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 25.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, on Sunday as the national capital continued to reel under heatwave conditions, the India Meteorological Department said.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to touch 43 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Eminent economist Suman Bery on Sunday took charge as the Vice Chairman of the government think tank Niti Aayog, according to an official statement.

Lieutenant General Baggavalli Somashekar Raju will take over as the next vice chief of the Army Staff on May 1, the defence ministry said on Friday. Lt Gen Raju will succeed incumbent Lt Gen Manoj Pande who will take the reins of the 1.3 million-strong Army after Army Chief Gen MM Naravane completes his term on Saturday. A qualified helicopter pilot, Lt Gen Raju is currently serving as the Director General Military Operations and oversaw the Army's overall operational readiness in eastern Ladakh. An alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and National Defence Academy, he was commissioned into the JAT Regiment on December 15, 1984.

Lt Gen BS Raju To Take Over As Vice Chief Of Indian Army Staff From May 1
The Indian Army's Director General of Military Operations, Lt General B.S. Raju will take over as Vice Chief of the Army Staff on May 1.
On December 15, 1984, he was commissioned in the Jat Regiment as an alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and the National Defence Academy.
During Operation Parakram in the Western Theatre and in Jammu and Kashmir, he led a battalion. He also commands the Uri brigade along the Line of Control, as well as a Counter-Insurgency Force and the Chinar Corps in the Kashmir Valley. He was also the Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan.
According to the Defence Ministry, the general officer is a qualified helicopter pilot having carried out operational flying in Somalia, as part of UNOSOM II (UN peacekeeping and humanitarian missions II). He has attended all-important career courses in India and has had the privilege of doing his NDC at the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.
For his illustrious contribution to the service, he has been awarded Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Yudh Seva Medal.
Oil Marketing Companies To Organise 5,000 LPG Panchayats On May 1
On May 1, oil marketing corporations such as Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation are planning to organise over 5,000 LPG panchayats around the nation to commemorate Ujjwala Diwas.
Apart from exchanging expertise aimed at safe and long-term Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumption, oil marketing businesses will also make efforts to increase client enrolment.

Thailand To Ease More COVID-19 Restrictions From May 1
Thailand has announced intentions to discontinue pre-arrival testing for arriving guests beginning next month. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, from May 1, travellers would not be required to be tested before or upon arrival, regardless of their vaccination status.
Though properly vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter the country and roam freely, the regulations for unvaccinated visitors will be slightly different.
