A 23-year-old tribal woman allegedly killed her 4-year-old daughter and then committed suicide following a fight with her husband in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Tuesday, as reported by news agency PTI. The incident took place on Monday at Sisne village in Dahanu area.
The woman's husband, a fisherman, used to be frequently away from the family, an official from Kasa police station said. He returned home on Sunday and went out with his friends.
His wife was annoyed as he had not taken her with him and this led to a quarrel between them, the official said. On Monday, the woman allegedly strangulated her daughter to death and later hanged herself from the ceiling of her house, he said.

Russian President Putin Praises PM Modi During 'Private Engagement' At His Official Residence
Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday night at his official residence at Novo-Ogaryovo for a "private engagement". Amid interactions, Putin praised the visit of the Indian leader for the work he has done for the country's progress.
“I would like to congratulate you on your reelection as prime minister. I think this is not an accident, but the result of your work over many years,” Putin said to Modi as they held an informal meeting in a residence outside Moscow.
“You have your own ideas. You are a very energetic person, able to achieve results in the interests of India and the Indian people,” Putin said. “The result is obvious.” “India firmly ranks as the world’s third-largest economy,” Putin was quoted as saying by the state-run Tass news agency.
Putin also said that Prime Minister Modi has devoted his entire life to serving his people and they can feel it.
All Educational Institutions In Mumbai And Thane To Remain Shut On Tuesday
Civic authorities have ordered all schools and colleges in Mumbai and Thane to remain shut on Tuesday in view of the prediction of heavy rains, officials said on Monday, IANS reported.
For the second day in a row, all educational institutions in Mumbai will remain closed as a precautionary measure due to the heavy rainfall that resulted in one death on Monday.
Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and the coastal Konkan areas have been severely affected by heavy rains since early Monday, causing significant disruptions. The forecast for Tuesday predicts continued heavy to very heavy downpours in these areas, along with similar warnings for other parts of the state, prompting all agencies to remain on high alert.
