India To Deliver Brahmos Missiles To Philippines On Friday

India is scheduled to hand over the initial shipment of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines on Friday, more than two years after finalising a USD 375 million agreement to provide the weapon systems to the Southeast Asian nation, individuals familiar with the situation revealed, PTI reported.

A military transport plane from the Indian Air Force is expected to ferry the missile and its launchers to the Philippines for delivery to the country's naval forces, they added.

In January 2022, India concluded the contract with the Philippines to supply three batteries for the missile. This would mark India's maiden export of the BrahMos missile.

Several other nations, including Argentina, have also expressed interest in acquiring BrahMos missiles from India.

BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between India and Russia, manufactures supersonic cruise missiles, which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms.
