New Delhi: China delivered a major setback to India and the to the global fight against terror on Wednesday, by blocking UNSC bid to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as international terrorist, for the fourth time.

China at the last moment put a technical hold on the proposal at the UNSC, in a move termed disappointing by India.

The Jaish-e-Mohammed is already a proscribed terror group which is responsible for a number of terror attacks in India. The proposal for the designation of its chief Masod Azhar, was moved by France, the UK and the US on Februray 27, days after the JeM carried out a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, which killed 40 CRPF personnel.

China’s action was condemned by the US for saving Azhar, in a move which it termed as ‘contrary to the goal of regional stability’. “The case for designating Masood Azhar – the leader of a group the UN already calls an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization – is undeniable,” it asserted.

While Ministry of External Affair termed the action “disappointing”, people of India took to Twitter to vent out their anger against the country.

Many Twitter users are seeking a boycott of Chinese products, including Chinese apps, for which India provides a large market.

Hashtag #BoycottChineseProducts started trending on the micro blogging website on Thursday morning. So far 20.4K tweets have been made under the hashtag. Here are some reactions to China’s latest move of saving terrorist Masood Azhar for the fourth time.
