New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday sacked it’s Haryana IT cell incharge amid demand of his arrest over an old controversial tweet allegedly against the Islam, reported news agency PTI. 


Haryana BJP president, OP Dhankar issued a statement in this regard stating that Haryana BJP IT cell incharge Arun Yadav is being removed from the post with immediate effect but did not give any reason for the same, the PTI report stated. 


Yadav had made the said tweet back in the year 2017 but is being widely shared on social media now. People are demanding for his arrest online although no formal complaint has been filed against him so far. 


The move comes at a time when much outrage was sparked after former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma made a controversial statement against Prophet Mohammad during a debate show. The party suspended her and another member Naveen Jindal for their controversial remarks after many gulf countries registered their protest. 


Several parts of the country saw violence ensuing protest against Nupur Sharma and a tailor in Udaipur, Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered for showing his support to the now-suspended BJP spokesperson. 


People on social media started trending #ArrestArunYadav after his old tweet went viral. 


Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV tweeted, “The BJP has sacked yet another 'fringe element'. But instead of this eyewash, will these 'hate minions' be arrested?”


Some people also compared Yadav’s tweet with AltNews’ co-founder Mohammad Zubair tweet asking why the former has not been arrested yet. 


"Hello @DGPHaryana @DelhiPolice If Zubair can be arrested for his 2018 tweet, then why not Arun yadav ?" tweeted Shaikh Sadeque, president of the Tipu Sultan Party.
