New Delhi: 77 persons have been arrested in Bihar’s Nalanda after violence erupted during Ram Navami festivities in the district, said the police on Sunday. 


“The violence after Ram Navami has been controlled by the Nalanda Police. A total of 77 people have been arrested. Strict action is being taken against the miscreants. All are requested to maintain peace, don't pay heed to rumours,” said the Nalanda Police in a tweet. 


Meanwhile, 32 persons were arrested in Rohtas and the police continued raids across the city.


32 people have been arrested so far as raids continue across the city. Strict action will be taken against rioters. Security personnel have been deployed and flag marches conducted in sensitive areas, said Rohtas Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar. 


Clash Reported In Sasaram On Saturday


Rohtas District Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar told news agency ANI some people from a community threw explosives at a religious site belonging to another community in Sasaram which left six people injured, adding the situation is now peaceful.






“The situation is peaceful in Sasaram. Y'day, we got info that a few people from one community threw explosives at a religious site belonging to another community. 6 people were injured, but they didn't suffer any serious injuries. Looking at the incident site, it is clear that the explosion occurred due to the mishandling of explosives. 1100-1200 security personnel deployed in the city. The public should not believe rumours,” Kumar said.


Amit Shah Speaks To Bihar Governor


On Sunday, Shah spoke to Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and took stock of the situation. As per the news agency, the Union Home Ministry has decided to send central paramilitary forces to Bihar.
