Bengaluru: In yet another incident of imperiousness by the authorities amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, a teenager was allegedly assaulted by a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) booth-level officers for refusing to be tested for Covid-19.


The incident took place at Nagarathpet testing booth after the teenager mistook a queue for Covid-19 testing to be that for vaccination. The police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the IPC after the video of the incident, which took place in Nagarathpet, went viral.


BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta expressed regret over the incident and said that an inquiry would be conducted into the same to ensure that such episodes do not take place ever again. (WATCH VIDEO)

“We regret the incident at Nagarathpet testing booth. There is no question of forceful testing. We condemn any physical altercation that has happened. Enquiry would be conducted to find out what led to this, who is responsible, and also to prevent any such recurrence,” Gupta tweeted.



Meanwhile, the coronavirus toll in Karnataka breached the 25,000-mark as the state on Sunday reported 25,979 new Covid-19 cases and 626 deaths.
