The Smaller NS Is Expected To Be Priced Below The Rs One Lakh Mark (on-road price)
With the resurrection of the Pulsar NS 200 and a commuter-focussed Pulsar 150, Bajaj had left a gap in its portfolio – that of the sporty 150, or rather 160cc bike segment which included the Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ v2.0 and Honda Hornet 160. That changes with bajaj's newest entrant, the NS 160.
The NS 160 was showcased in Turkey last December where Bajaj exports and sells its bikes. We expect the upcoming NS 160 to have similar specs as the export version. The export bike has a 160.3cc oil-cooled single which makes 15.5 PS @ 8500rpm and 14.6Nm of torque @ 6500rpm. It gets a five-speed gearbox.
The NS 160 features the same perimeter frame, naked bodywork and telescopic front and gas charged rear monoshock suspension of the NS 200. The tyres though are a smaller 100/80 R17 at the front and 110/70 R17 at the back. For braking, the NS 160 gets petal discs at both ends though ABS from the export version might not make it on this one. The bike weighs just 135 kilos.
While prices are yet to be disclosed, dealer sources say that they expect the on-road price of the bike to be just below the Rs one lakh mark. The bikes have started reaching dealerships and an official launch of the NS 160 is expected next month in July.
