Jakarta (Indonesia), Aug 30 (ANI): It was a heartbreak for the Indian men's hockey team as they went down to Malaysia 6-7 in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals at the Asian Games, on Thursday.

India who were defending champions had a stellar campaign in the tournament so far.

India who looked all set to win the match, suffered a massive blow as Malaysia equalized with just a couple of minutes left into the match. The match then went into a penalty shootout with the full-time scoreline reading 2-2. However, India lost in the sudden death to Malaysia to settle for Bronze.

The men's hockey team had put out a brilliant show in the pool stages of the tournament as they scored 76 goals in just five matches to script a world record. India defeated Indonesia (17-0), Hong Kong (26-0), Japan (8-0), Korea (5-3) and Sri Lanka (20-0) to top the group. (ANI)
