Hyderabad: At least nine persons, including six women and two children, were killed in a tragic accident where a car and a truck collided at Budagavi village in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district. Hours after the accident took place, PM Modi Announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the bereaved family.
They were returning to their village in a car after attending the wedding of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker and state Kisan Morcha executive committee member Kora Venkatappa's daughter in Bellary, Karnataka
Condoling the demise of persons in the road accident PM Modi through the PMO Twitter handle said, "Pained by the loss of lives due to a tragic accident in Ananthapuramu district, AP. Condolences to the bereaved families. An ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased."
Meanwhile, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid his condolences to the bereaved family. "Saddened by the loss of lives in a road accident in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family members." the Vice President tweeted.
The collision between a truck and their car took place leaving eight persons on board dead on the spot. While the ninth victim reportedly succumbed to the grievous injuries sustained during the massive accident. The victims belonged to Nimbagallu village in Uravakonda Mandal and they were returning to their village after attending the wedding, said Uravakonda Sub Inspector Venkata Swamy, reports ABP Desam.
Venkatappa, a Kisan Morcha state executive committee member, was also killed in the accident. A speeding truck was reportedly from the opposite direction lost control and rammed into the vehicle. The car was heavily wrecked that it became difficult for the police in retrieving the bodies from it. The truck driver fled the spot, an officer stated as quoted by The Hindustan Times.
The deceased were identified as Ashok, Radhamma, Saraswati, Shivamma, Subhadramma, Swati, Jahnavi, Venkatappa, and Jaswant.
