Hyderabad: TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu said the High Court verdict on Amarvathi is a "historical and inspirational win for the Amaravati farmers".
Speaking at a media conference held at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri on Thursday, Naidu said that the High Court Judgement had proved once again that only justice would win.
He congratulated the Amaravthi farmers and women who fought tirelessly for the capital. He said "Amaravathi is the place where 99 percent of the land has been given voluntarily under land pooling in a way that is not possible anywhere in the world. The farmers gave 33,000 acres of land without court cases or disputes to the government. It was only feasible because of the sacrifices made by local farmers," said Naidu.
He recalled that the Prime Minister and dignitaries from Singapore were present for the foundation-laying ceremony for the projected capital. It was intended to be the Capital city of Andhra Pradesh, with the farmers donating thousands of acres voluntarily.
The ruling YSRCP government shattered the people's aspirations and condemned the proposed capital city, said Naidu.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu praised the High Court's decision on Amaravati, calling it a major setback for the Jagan Mohan Reddy government's three capitals plan.
A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra issued a landmark decision by cancelling the proposed three capitals project on Thursday.“Amaravati should be developed as the capital city of the state. Within three months, the plots allotted to the stakeholders should be developed, and infrastructure facilities should be created for the plots within three months,” said Court.
