Andhra Govt Implements Cashless Payment At Inter-State Check Posts To Curb Corruption

The Andhra Pradesh transport department introduced the cashless system at 15 check posts. The move will help prevent the staff from indulging in corruption.

The Andhra Pradesh transport department has launched an Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment system at inter-state check posts in a bid to combat corruption. The system has been implemented at 15 check posts of the transport department.

In response to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's directive to establish a corruption-free administration, the transport department introduced the cashless system at all check posts. The move will help prevent the staff from indulging in corruption.

"Cashless system has been introduced at check posts on the orders of CM Jagan. From now on we have completely stopped cash transactions at check posts. This policy will support the Chief Minister’s directives of corruption free administration without any middlemen. We It can also tackle the traffic problem with the new policy," Transport commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha said.

Under the new system, individuals can make payments for border tax, temporary permit tax, voluntary tax, settlement fee, and other related charges by scanning a QR code. Additionally, the facility for online payments through the website https://aprtacitizen.epragthi.org has been provided. This digital transformation not only tackles corruption but also eliminates the inconvenience of standing in queues at check posts.

The Andhra Pradesh transport department operates inter-state check posts between Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana. The 15 check posts covered by the new policy are located in Ichchapuram, Jeelugumili, Panchalingala, Penukonda, Sunnipenta, Tiruvuru, Garikapadu, Palamaneru, Tada, BV Palem, Renigunta, Naraharipet, Dachepalli, Macharla, and Bendapudi areas.

Earlier, The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) also introduced the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment system for the allotment of its cottages and guesthouses. The TTD trust board stated that this initiative will not only enable them to check irregularities in the allotment process but also accelerate the refunding of money collected from pilgrims in the form of security deposits at the time of allotment.
