Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stones for the construction of three seven-star hotels by Oberoi Group in the state. The hotels will be located in Gandikota in YSR Kadapa district, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati, IANS reported.
The ceremony at Gandikota followed an earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Oberoi Group during the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam in March. Government officials and Vikram Oberoi, the Managing Director of the Oberoi Group, signed the MoU in the presence of the Chief Minister.
During the bhoomi puja (groundbreaking ceremony), the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the hotels would put Gandikota, often referred to as the Grand Canyon of India, on the world tourism map. He stated that the hotels would create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 500 to 800 individuals and contribute to the overall development of Gandikota.
Additionally, the Chief Minister hoped that the Oberoi Hotel and Resort would attract further projects and requested Vikram Oberoi to explore the possibility of establishing a golf course in the area.
"A luxury hotel's foundation stone was laid today at Gandikota, and the foundation stone for the Jindal Steel Factory was laid here in Jammalamadugu last year. This region will become an industrial and tourist hub as a result of the rapid development that is taking place here," IANS quoted Reddy as saying.

Vikram Oberoi addressed the gathering and expressed his optimism that the hotel and resort in Gandikota would serve as a catalyst for economic growth and provide employment opportunities for the youth. He emphasised the Oberoi Group's commitment to contributing to the area's development and thanked the Chief Minister and the government machinery for their cooperation.
Tirupati District Collector K Venkataramana Reddy and Visakhapatnam District Collector Dr A Mallikharjuna also interacted with the Chief Minister and provided details about the land and other facilities provided to the Oberoi Group for the construction of the hotels.
