New Delhi: A gas leak was reported from a factory in Haryana's Jhajjhar district on Thursday night triggering panic among locals, reported news agency ANI. The leakage of ammonia gas was reported from a 'kattha' making factory in the district. Some residents of the area complained of difficulty in breathing and vomitting. Fire brigade team, police and administrative officials immediately reached the spot on being informed.
"Incident of ammonia gas leakage reported. Three ambulances and 3 to 4 fire brigades are at the spot. Advised people to wear masks," said Jag Niwas, Deputy Commissioner, Jhajjar, quoted by the news agency.
The fire brigade team evacuted people from the factory and sprayed the area with water in order to settle down the poisonous gas spread in air. Ambulances had also reached the spot and several people were shifted to hospital.
Meanwhile, it was reported that condition of two fire brigade personnel who reached the spot for relief work had also deteriorated. After this, two ambulances were sent to the spot. Apart from this, two fire tenders had also reached the spot, as per ABP News sources
Police personnel present at the spot also asked people to leave the area in order to minimse any sort of damage to life or property. Shops were also asked to shut.

Jhajjhar MLA, Geet Bhukkal had also reached the spot and praised the police for their efforts. She also said that action will be taken against the factory as this was not the first incident in the area. "Authorities should immedialtely take conginzance of the matter and take action against the factory as such incident has not happened for the first time," Bhukkal said, reported ABP News.
