MacKenzie Scott, one of the world's richest women and former wife of Amazon cofounder Jeff Bezos has remarried a Seattle science teacher, who has shared the plans to donate most of their wealth. The Wall Street Journal is perhaps the first one to report the marriage on Sunday. Infact, Scott's Amazon biography also mentioned that she lives in Seattle with her four children and her husband, Dan."

Dan Jewett, who is a teacher at the private Lakeside School revealed about the marriage while writing a post on the website for the Giving Pledge. A philanthropy initiative created by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett to promote charity by billionaire. "In a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know -- and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others," Jewett wrote in a March 6 post here under Scott's page on the pledge's website.


In the letter, Jewett mentioned about being a teacher mostly and has never "sought to gather the kind of wealth required" for charity pledges.


On the other hand, Bezos also seems to be happy about the couple. "Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them," Bezos mentioned in a statement through an Amazon spokesperson, as per the Wall Street report.


Founder of Amazon.com Inc Bezos remains one the world's richest person with a $176.6 billion fortune, according to the ranking.

How much MacKenzie Scott contributed in charity?


In line with the commitment to extend philanthropist initiatives, MacKenzie Scott donated around $6 billion last year, which turned out to be record annual distribution for a living person, as per the agency. The donation is focused on small charities and institutions such as historically Black colleges that remain on less priority from billionaire charity.


Scott, who is a philanthropist and author, announced several pandemic-era philanthropy initiatives in the past. The 50-year-old author is the world's 22nd-richest person with a net worth of $53.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.


After her divorce with Jeff Bezos in 2019, Scott has emerged as one of the most important philanthropists of her generations.
