New Delhi: Akhilesh Yadav was unanimously elected president of the Samajwadi Party on Thursday for the third consecutive time, said the party's secretary general Ram Gopal Yadav, as reported by news agency PTI. Declaring the result of the election at the Samajwadi Party national convention at Ramabai Ambedkar stadium, Ram Gopal Yadav said Akhilesh Yadav was the only candidate for the post.

After taking over from his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav became SP president for the first time in January 2017 at an emergency meeting of the party. He became SP president for the second time at the party's national convention in Agra in October the same year.

Speaking at party's conference Yadav said that this government is not made by the people and even people don't believe how Bharatiya Janata Party again formed the government. He also said that BJP snatched away the government from Samajwadi party.

"This govt is not made by people, even people don't believe how they (BJP) again formed the govt. They & their machinery snatched away the govt from Samajwadi party because they knew if they lose power in UP they'll lose power in Delhi," ANI quoted SP chief Akhilesh Yadav as saying.

"Election commission deliberately reduced the votes of Yadavs & Muslims by 20,000 in almost every Vidhan sabha seat on diktats of BJP & its aides. Probe can be conducted, it will be found that the names of many people were removed..." he also said.

Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP and said that they can't provide stretcher or ambulance to poor people in villages while they give huge benefits to big businessmen.

"They've (BJP) made ration free as elections are approaching in some states. They can make ration free but can't provide stretcher or ambulance to poor people in villages while they give huge benefits to big businessmen", Akhilesh Yadav was quoted by ANI as saying.
