Aam Aadmi Party National Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said on Friday that the party will contest the Lok Sabha General elections without any alliance with any other political party in the country. Pathak was talking to reporters in Goa where he said his party will go solo in the elections next year on both the seats in Goa, reported news agency PTI. However, he said the party will support like-minded people on national issues.
His announcements have come amid the ongoing attempts by the Congress party to form a robust opposition in the country ahead of the upcoming elections. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi recently met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Kharge has also spoken to Left leaders such as Sitaram Yechury and D Raja.
Pathak said AAP will support like-minded parties on national interest issues. He, however, said, “But election is a different thing,” reported news agency PTI.

While responding to reporters’ questions on projecting Arvind Kejriwal as the Prime Ministerial candidate, Pathak said, “Let the country decide who should be the PM. We don’t believe in these things (announcing PM candidate in advance),” as quoted by PTI.
He conducted several meetings in Goa with many party leaders in order to strengthen the organisation in view of the approaching elections. The part has two MLAs in the total of 40-member Goa Assembly.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, AAP won just one seat from the total number of seats across all the states and union territories, which was a downward trend from 4 in 2014. AAP had also recorded its highest vote share in New Delhi at 18.10 percent.
Meanwhile, Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, arrested in connection with the excise policy 'scam' case, on Thursday urged Delhi High Court to grant him bail and said no evidence has been found to show his involvement in the case and that he is being singled out, PTI reported.
Senior advocate Dayan Krishnan, appearing for Sisodia, argued, “They say that I do not cooperate. This can never be the ground to deny me the bail. I am not required to cooperate, confess, or answer questions in the way they want. I am required to answer in the way I want, that is the constitutional guarantee.”
