After locking biometrics, if a UID is used for invoking any of the authentication services using a biometric modality (fingerprint/iris) a specific error code '330' indicates that biometrics are locked. Locked biometrics ensures the Aadhaar holder will not be able to use their data (fingerprints/iris) for authentication.

Once a person chooses to lock their data, it can only be undone if the person chooses to unlock it which is temporary or if they disable the locking system.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit number that connects an individual's biometric data to create a unique identity. A person's bank account, phone number, government programmes, and other financial services are all connected to their Aadhaar number.
