New Delhi: Nine members of the same family were found dead in their house in Miraj tehsil of Sangli, Maharashtra on Monday and police suspect it to be a case of suicide. "We have found nine bodies in a house. Three bodies were found at one place, while six were found at other different places in the house," Sangli Superintendent of Police Dikshit Gedam said. The bodies were found in a house at Mhaisal in the Sangli region, situated north of 350 km from the state capital Mumbai.


Asked whether it is a 'suicide pact', he said the police were at the spot and confirming the reason for the demise.


Another police official said they suspect it to be case of suicide. In any case, the specific reason for passings will be known after the postmortem.

The official likewise said that they suspect the deceased consumed a poisonous substance.
  
In 2018, eleven members of a family, including seven women, were found dead under mysterious circumstances in north Delhi's Burari area on Sunday morning. In a gruesome 10 family members were found blindfolded and hanging from an iron grill ceiling, while a 75-year-old woman’s body was found lying on the floor. As per reports, the dead included seven women and four men, while the number of children found hanging was five. The family was staying in the locality for the last 20 years and were into plywood business and owned a grocery shop.
