A head-on collision between a car and a truck has claimed the lives of seven members of a family in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district and injured two people. Station House Office Ved Pal said the deceased were identified as Paramjeet Kaur (60), Khushvinder Singh (25), his wife Paramjeet Kaur (22), son Manjot Singh (5), Rampal (36), his wife Reena (35) and daughter Reet (12). The injured, identified as Akashdeep Singh (14) and Manraj Kaur (2), were referred to a hospital in Bikaner. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
In another incident in UP's Ballia district, four people were killed and eight left injured when an auto-rickshaw was hit by another vehicle early Sunday, police said. The injured were admitted to a district hospital. Both the deceased and the wounded belonged to Sadar Chowk in adjoining Mau district. Superintendent of Police (SP), S Anand told news agency PTI, "The deceased and the injured worked as cooks and were returning after completing their work at a marriage function in a village." He added that the auto-rickshaw was standing near Chilkahar village when another vehicle hit it. After the incident, Twelve people were rushed to the district hospital where four of them were declared dead.
Another road accident in Jharkhand's Dumka claimed three lives after a pickup van collided with a motorcycle on Friday evening, police said. The accident occurred at Jiathpani under the Gopikandar police station area at a distance of 50 km from Dumka headquarters, police added. Three persons on the motorcycle died on the spot around 7 pm after a collision with a pickup, Dumka sub-divisional police officer Noor Mustafa Ansari told PTI. Ansari said the deceased were from Amrapara in Pakur, adding that the bodies were sent for autopsy.
