Rear AC vents on the Hyundai Santro will be a segment-first feature
The new 2018 Hyundai Santro, which is set to be launched on October 23, has now been spied in its Asta variant. The Santro Asta will be top-spec variant of the hatchback and will be offered with a manual transmission only. The hatchback will be available in a total of five variants: Dlite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. Only the Magna and Sportz variants will be available with the option of an automatic transmission.
Like we’ve seen in the official images, Hyundai has refrained from using much chrome on the Santro. There’s a chrome outline on the front grille, but just on the periphery. Door handles, even on the top variant, come without any chrome, and we’re not complaining. The lack of chrome can also be seen on the inside - even the Hyundai logo on the steering wheel is a black affair. But if we were to nitpick, the lack of alloy wheels even on the top-spec Asta variant is a bit of a letdown and LEDs in the tail lamps would have made it look richer without adding to car’s cost. The B-pillar is also finished in body-colour, much like cars from a decade before. Modern-day cars generally get blacked-out B-pillars, which helps mask some of the visual mass.
There are two rear AC vents, one for each passenger, and the direction of air can be adjusted on both of them. However, both vents share a common air flow dial. Although the video is a little blurry, we can make out that the quality of plastics around the air vents are quite premium.
