New Delhi: Toyota has started dispatching the 2016 Toyota Fortuner to dealerships all over India. It came to light after a black coloured 2016 Toyota Fortuner SUV was spotted at a dealership in Ahmedabad, from where it was snapped.

The launch of the SUV is expected in the festive seasons, while it came imported into India last year in October 2015. The first time it was spotted testing was in August 2016.

Though spied earlier, the new pictures reveal a horizontal three-slat chrome-accented front-grille, large chrome-rich fog lamp provisions and a black-cladded front bumper.

The lighting cluster includes projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps, revised taillamps with LED inserts. The side profile shows sufficient overhangs for extra space, especially around the curved and well-spaced rear windshield.

With alloy wheels, the sides are smooth without any lines, as in typical Toyota fashion. The 2016 Toyota Fortuner’s new design is based on the Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform.

Powered by both petrol and diesel motors, the international-spec 2016 Toyota Fortuner gets one petrol and two diesel engines. The India-spec model is likely to come with only diesel motors.

As the Toyota Innova Crysta does, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner too will likely get the 2.4-litre diesel motor that churns out 148 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The other engine will be the 2.8-litre mill that makes 175 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. Both the engines will come mated with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission as options.
