New Delhi: Deepika Padukone’s much-awaited film ‘Chhapaak’ has finally hit the silver screens on Friday (January 10). The Meghna Gulzar directorial is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film co-starring Vikrant Massey has received praises from the critics for the impeccable performances of the actors and brilliant direction.

Several movie buffs have given ‘Chhapaak’ thumbs up on social media after watching the morning show. Despite the controversies surrounding the film, fans have lauded Deepika for taking up a character oriented role.

The ‘Padmaavat’ actress had visited JNU to express her solidarity with the students. Bollywood celebs including Dia Mirza, Bhumi Pednekar, Swara Bhasker and Sonakshi Sinha praised her for extending supporting to the students, who were attacked by a mob in the JNU campus. Deepika faced flak from a section on Twitter and the hashtag #BoycottChhapaak trended on the micro-blogging site. Soon, several fans and celebs trended #ISupportDeepika on social media.
