The cold winds of winter have arrived. It's time to pull out the sweaters and make the hot cocoa. Remember that our pets also require heat as you prepare to face the upcoming cold weather. Our pets, like us, are susceptible to the effects of cold weather. Keeping our furry friends warm is especially important now that the weather is colder, the winds are picking up, and snow may be on the way for their winter walks. Your routine for caring for your pet should adapt to the seasons, and winter is no exception.
In an interaction with ABP Live, the co-founder of FiloMilo Pets Care, Brinda Prabhu Kumar, suggested a few tips for keeping your pets warm this winter.
Pet-Friendly Outerwear
Your furry friend will stay toasty warm in a jacket designed specifically for them this winter. One made entirely of polyester should be your selection. These lightweight and fluffy pet jackets are specially made to keep your pet warm and cozy on chilly days. They should be cut loose, but not too loosely, and feature stylish embroidery. Your canine companion will look stylish in one of these jackets. When pets are dressed up, it's best for parents to keep an eye on them, and it's best if the clothing is taken off before playtime or exercise.
Pet Blankets
Wrap your pet up in a cozy blanket to keep it warm and comfortable. Polyester is used to make the best pet blankets because of the material's durability and longevity. You can use it to keep your pet warm and to keep dirt and hair off of your furniture. Since dust mites are killed and skin flakes and pollen are effectively removed by washing at a high temperature (60 °C), those who suffer from allergies can rest easily under such blankets. Your pet will love to cuddle up in one of these blankets, which come in a variety of sizes.
Pet Socks And Shoes
Pay close attention to your pet's paws this winter. Paws can dry out and crack in the cold, which can lead to bleeding in extreme cases. The pain caused by such conditions makes it difficult for pets to walk, so keeping paws well moisturized and covered is crucial. Quality pet shoes or socks can help protect your animal from harm. When walking with your pet, they should feel comfortable and not irritate their paws.
Hot Water And Food
It's essential to keep your pet's water and food at room temperature, especially during the cold winter months. It's easier on their stomachs if the food is heated slightly. This is a crucial standard to uphold. Pets should only be fed food and water at warm or room temperatures. They are more susceptible to illness and the common cold in the harsh winter because of the cold water and food.
Heaters For Pets
All living things, including humans and their pets, require heat. This is why having a heater for your home is crucial, not just for you but for your pets. However, pet owners must exercise caution when using space heaters near their furry friends. Because of how quickly a direct rod heater can heat up, it's important to keep your pet away from it at all times. Make sure pets can't reach the space heaters. Also, oil-based heaters are preferable because they produce a lower temperature and are safer to use.
