Popular sand artist and Padma Shree awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik created sand art of Santa Claus made with tomatoes on Gopalpur beach in Odisha on the occasion of Christmas. 1.5 tons of tomatoes have been used in the installation of this piece, the artist revealed.


The sculpture is 27ft high and 60 ft wide in size. Pattnaik also had the help of his students who joined hands with him to complete it in time.


Pattnaik posted a video on Twitter showcasing the Santa Claus that he and his students have created together. Have a look at the video below to see the sand art.









In the 15-second video posted by Pattnaik, we can see a huge sand art of Santa Claus made with tomatoes and sand. Pattnaik can be seen in the video, giving some finishing touches to the sculpture. People gathered around to see this being made in realtime with their own eyes.









People applauded Pattnaik in the comment section of the tweet for his efforts, however, a section of users felt he could've gone with something other than tomato to avoid wastage.
