New Delhi: A rape survivor woman from Houston has a message for all females and she recorded the same on her mobile phone camera.


"Be aware of your surroundings", said Chanel Diane who looks into the camera with a blueish, purple circle over her left eye and a white gauze patch of tape over stitches on her forehead.

In the video, the 29-year-old states she was raped and severely beaten in her home near the 9500 block of Meyer Forest Drive, Houston (Texas).

"This (video) is for no other reason than for women to stand up for themselves," she said in the footage.

"It is a blessing that I'm alive with the way that I was attacked, with the force that was used", Diane Chanel said and added "You have to be more cautious, ladies, you have to be more aware of your surroundings at all times. You need to protect yourselves at all times."

"I never would have expected to be beaten up and robbed at my own home," she said.

Houston police are conducting an investigation and are seeking information, said media reports.

On her Facebook, Diane Chanel describes the man in his early 20s, 5-7 to 5-9 and 180 pounds (approx 81 kg).
