While flying from Singapore to Milan in Italy, the plane was forced to turn back due to an engine trouble.
A witness captured the footage of Boeing 777-300ER while sitting on the tarmac as fierce flames and thick black smoke blow from its right wing.
The footage shows that the passengers were incredibly calm when the wing got covered in smoke and fire.
There were 222 passengers and 19 crew members on the board Flight SQ368, which had taken off in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to media reports, the pilot decides to return to Singapore “due to an engine oil warning”.
The Singapore airlines said that the aircraft’s right engine had caught fire after it touched down, added reports.
The Airlines has confirmed that apparently, no one was hurt as the airport emergency services workers had extinguished the blaze.
A passenger, Lee Bee Yee, 43, told that there was a faint smell of petrol detected about two-three hours into the flight.
She further added that the pilot had informed them about the leak and the plane would have to turn back to Changi Airport as it did not have enough fuel for the journey.
Shortly after landing, the plane’s right wing caught fire, she said.
She said that the blaze was quite fierce and they had to wait for around two to three minutes before the fire engines arrived.
All the passengers were finally disembarked down the stairs and were taken to the terminal building in the bus.
