New Delhi: Businessperson and media entrepreneur Sandeep Goyal has come out with his latest book, 'Point Blank'. Justice Hemant Gupta of the Supreme Court launched the book on Sunday in the presense of industry leaders at an intimate gathering at the Indian Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
Offering an "extreme close-up of celebrities, corporates, controversies & Concepts", the new book is a snapshot of the Indian advertising industry revolving around celebrities — be it from the cricketing field or Bollywood — with the overlook of the value the brand creates and what potential it has.
Sandeep Goyal, a regular columnist in Business Standard, has compiled some of his best writings and pushed them with an edging opinion backed with market research and metric insights in his new book.
Sandeep Goyal, who has authored seven books, named this one Point Blank as it refers to the "need to have an opinion" on the Indian advertising industry thriving on the back of celebrity endorsement and push.
The book covers celebrities from the sporting world such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and also the likes of Hima Das, Hardik Pandya and others.
The book is also a deep dive into the functioning of brands of political figures such as Priyanka Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal, while it also talks about how the Indian police is a unit that can be looked like a brand and be rebuilt.
"Being a person with a marketing background, I have always evaluated feedbacks in terms of rate of return. Whenever, I sent my authored article having celebrity-based research to my friends, family, and colleagues the reaction, feedback or comments came back more than 20% than any other usual business writing I did," said Sandeep Goyal on the inspiration behind penning down 'Point Blank'.
It is not only that celebs who have been covered as brands in the book but it also takes one through the journey of brands like Amazon and Flipkart and their ongoing strategy, former Duchess Of Sussex Meghan Markle and what she brought as a brand to the UK, and Saint Mother Teresa and her impact.
