As per Hindu mythology, the naga (naag) is a class of legendary semi-divine entities that are half human and half cobra. These are the beliefs that are found common in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Hindu mythology says that they are a powerful, attractive race that can take on either a fully human or a fully serpentine shape. They reside in Naag-loka, also known as Patala-loka, an underground realm that is home to numerous magnificent palaces that are exquisitely decorated with priceless gems.
The birth of the Naag (serpents) is commemorated in contemporary Hinduism on Naag Panchami in the month of Sawan or Shravan.
When Is Naag Panchami 2022?
Naag Panchami, which falls on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Sawan, is regarded as one of the most significant days in Hindu culture. This day is dedicated to worshipping Naga Devta, according to astrological traditions.
This year, Naag Panchami is falling on the 2nd of August 2022, Tuesday.
Why Do We Worship Naag On Naag Panchami?
Naag Panchami is celebrated by worshipping the snake deity. It is auspicious to do this because it gives liberation from Kaal Sarp Dosh in the horoscope. Along with this, donating to the needy on this day is also considered beneficial.
