New Delhi: The Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, took her final bow on the Miss Universe stage. On Sunday, R'Bonney Gabriel of the United States was named the new Miss Universe. In addition to passing her crown to the champion, Sandhu offered a special tribute to Lara Dutta, Miss Universe 2000, and Sushmita Sen, who won the Miss Universe crown in 1994.

The gorgeous black gown that the 22-year-old beauty queen was wearing was adorned with pictures of Lara and Sushmita. As she walked on the stage, the winning moment of Sushmita Sen  and Lara Dutta from the beauty pageant can be seen printed on the gown.

Harnaaz received accolades from social media users as well as Lara Dutta for the heartfelt and memorable tribute to her predecessors.

"I was 17-years-old when I first took the stage and since then becoming Miss Universe was my goal. I've been given the megaphone on a worldwide stage to present the topic of menstrual equity before world leaders asking them to keep this conversation ongoing,” the background score of Harnaaz voiceover played as she walked on the stage.

Dutta reacted to the sweet gesture and took to Instagram to share pictures of the moment. She reposted a picture shared by the Miss Diva organisation on their Instagram story. "Wishing Harnaaz Sandhu the brightest road ahead!! Am sure she's going to blaze her own individual, glorious path," Lara Dutta wrote.

For the Miss Universe ceremony, Harnaaz opted for a black dress by Indian designer Saisha Shinde. The huge outfit has a floor-sweeping skirt, an oversized bow on the back, a cut-out back, and a plunging neckline.

Harnaaz's Miss Universe 2021 winning gold-gown was also designed by Shinde.
