New Delhi: Men's fashion is a topic that not every influencer touches. Breaking stereotypes and building a niche for men is not an easy task. The adoption of luxury lifestyle among consumers and rising urbanisation has spawned a modern class of consumers with a passion for current fashion. Interestingly, fashion is an industry that is ever-evolving and has always proudly worn change. Change in fashion trends is a key part of the fashion industry's identity.
Fashion is not really about wearing weird clothes and walking down the street. It's about confidently wearing your style statement. It's about seeing what suits your personality and what carries your mood right.
Despite its massive market size and never-lasting demand, the fashion industry took a severe hit during Covid-19 pandemic and both customers and brands owners are trying to navigate the aftermath of the crisis. Speaking about the latest trends in fashion industry and its future graph, fashion expert and influencer Sanket Mehta says that in the last five years, India has kept up with the latest fashion and trends and has witnessed men's fashion going from cool casual to streetwear.
"Slowly and gradually, the lines between men's and women's fashion are blurring out. You will often see women shopping from the men's clothing section and men shopping from the women's accessories section," he said.
Further speaking about latest trends of the industry, Mehta said fashion culture that has picked up in India recently is thrift shopping. "People are now open to buying used clothes as long as they are in great condition and keep up the latest trends. Upcycling and sustainability are becoming an integral part of the fashion industry," the fashion expert noted.
"During the lockdown, many small businesses suffered heavily. Due to the awareness that was created by the social media platforms and their users, small brands are getting good traction now. The buyers are more willing to purchase clothes from them," Mehta added.
Speaking about the advent of online platforms and its impact on fashion industry, Mehta said social media platforms and OTTs expose the audience to fashion trends from around the world. He also pointed out that people in India are accepting small and upcoming Indian brands that they come across on social media platforms.
