Martha Stewart has made history by being one of the cover models for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2023. She is now the publication's oldest cover model, at 81 years old. Martha looked graceful in one of the four covers as she smiled and revealed that she wore nine different swimsuits during the eight-hour photo shoot. "When we said this year was going to be epic, we meant it," Sports Illustrated said on Twitter. 


"Thrilled to be on cover of the @SI_Swimsuit issue! I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things. Pick up on newsstands May 18th" The image of her cover was tweeted by the 81-year-old.






"When I heard I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, Oh, that's pretty good, I'm going to be the oldest person I think ever on a Sports Illustrated cover," the lifestyle icon said. "And I don't think much about age, but I thought this was kind of historic," she added. 


She also revealed that she shot the cover in the Dominican Republic and went to pilates three times a week to prepare. "All these people were prodding me and talking about 'the girls,'" she told The New York Times about the experience. "I've never referred to my breasts as 'the girls' in my life. That kind of thing irritates me... I had to make certain that I was prepared to pose in a bathing suit. It took some vanity, but also some confidence. I told myself, 'If I'm in good enough physical and mental shape to do such a thing, I'm up for it,'" she added.


"Usually, I'm motivated by pay," she continued. "But this time, I was inspired by the fact that a woman my age could still look good, feel good, and be good," she said.


Martha Stewart rose to prominence in the 1980s as a result of her successful cookbook line. She has since written over 99 books and launched her own magazine, restaurant, podcast, and television shows. Stewart currently hosts three Roku shows: Martha Gardens, Martha Cooks, and Martha Holidays. She also hosts The Martha Stewart Podcast, in which she interviews various business leaders from various fields.
