Ujjain News: Makar Sankranti, the great festival of Surya Sankranti will be celebrated on January 15, 2022, during the ‘Brahma Yog’. It will be celebrated on January 15, because the sun’s entry period into ‘Makar’ (Capricorn) leaving  ‘Dhanu’ (Sagittarius) is at 2:32 PM on January 14, 2022.

According to Pandit Amar Dabbawala, the time of Surya Sankranti casts a special effect. As per popular belief, if the Surya Sankranti falls after noon, the Sankranti is available in the ‘Gochar’ (transit) period and the auspicious festival should be celebrated on the next day.

So, according to this belief, as the Sun will enter Capricorn on January 14, 2022, at 2:32 PM, the festival of Makar Sankranti will be celebrated on January 15.

According to calculations, the ‘Grah Gochar’ leads to many coincidences. On a particular festival period, when one of the 'panch Mahapurush' is available in the 'Grah Gochar', it is considered special.

As per the same calculations, this time the festival of Makar Sankranti will be celebrated with Shani’s (Saturn’s) transit in Capricorn coming into existence through Kendra Yog.

It is a coincidence that due to Saturn’s transit into Capricorn, the Makar Sankranti of the Sun is being formed in a combined order. It is a very rare occurrence that the festival period of Makar Sankranti in Capricorn falls in the month of Capricorn with a combined order of Sun Saturn in Capricorn. This kind of occurrence happens once in many years.

What Does Shani Pradosh Mean?

It is also a coincidence that Makar Sankranti festive period and Pradosh, both are on Saturday. Shani Pradosh means when there is pradosh on Saturday. It is also a special occurrence. In this too, if the ‘Sankranti Mahaparv’ falls at the same time, then it gains even more importance. Doing charity, fasting, and chanting mantras in this period yields special blessings.
